Gunman on French train
Quote:
An armed man has injured three people on a train between Amsterdam and Paris before being overpowered by passengers, French rail company SNCF says.
The incident happened on the high-speed Thalys service near Arras, and the assailant was arrested at its station.
Two of the victims, said to be an American and a Briton, were seriously injured - one had a gunshot wound, the other a knife wound, reports said.
The reports said the man arrested was of North African origin.
One of his weapons was said to be a Kalashnikov.
Le Monde said the man also had an automatic pistol and had so far refused to talk to police in Arras.
The two passengers who restrained the man were believed to be American.

Sounds like this could have been a whole lot worse and well done to those who dealt with this maniac.

Re: Gunman on French train
Two military men, one British, the other American grappled the North African. A French TV actor hurt his hand breaking the glass for the emergency alarm.
Reports say now that it was 3 US Marines that grabbed the maniac.

Re: Gunman on French train
As usual in such incidents, the initial reports are being clarified somewhat now and the original link has been updated.

Re: Gunman on French train
Seems that the French authorities had been tipped off by Spanish police about this guy last year so there'll be a few questions asked about what the information provided was and why nothing was apparently done about it.

And by the time Hollywood has finished with it there will have been a single US marine (having been in France to bury his dead wife) who took on a Muslim death-squad and saved the entire country.
