moving to a different wall socket

I will be moving the computer to another room in the house soon which has a connected wall socket already in place. Will connecting the Superhub to this work or does it require a visit from the engineer.

Thanks.

Re: moving to a different wall socket

Assuming that the socket remains connected then it should work. Only one way to find out

make sure your connections are tight or you'll cause ingress .

Re: moving to a different wall socket

I'm not sure if I've 100% understood the underlying question. I assume that you want also to move the Superhub to the other room.

People do this sort of thing all the time without problem - including me. The main challenge is to get the coax cable from your VM wall box delivered to the new Superhub location. Have you got that in hand?

Re: moving to a different wall socket

Not clear at all. What's this about the Superhub in your first post?

Moving a computer to anywhere can be plugged into anywhere without problem. Connecting to the SH wired or wireless then needs to be done.

Re: moving to a different wall socket

He has a virgin point in his living room he would like to screw the shub into, rather than the point it is currently screwed into, I think what he was getting at is a special filter/splitter required to the one that was originally installed in the living room for a stb?

Re: moving to a different wall socket

OK our house has three VM wall sockets that the engineer has to come out and fit.
Two of them are upstairs and until recently we had a TiVo box connected to it and it and is unused at the moment as out daughter has move out leaving this wall socket unused
I want to connect the Superhub to this socket instead of the one it's currently connected to as we want to move the computer into this room

In short can I disconnect the coax from the current wall socket and then reconnect it to the other socket and switch on and use.

Re: moving to a different wall socket

Thanks for the explanation. Wall socket can be any type of socket but it seems I was being a bit thick!

Anyway, as explained by others - yes it'll work and expect no problems. From personal experience.

Yes as above just connect your cable to the virgin socket, and then connect the superhub and all should be good.

Re: moving to a different wall socket

I have two unterminated sockets, one where my tv box (that I don't use) used to plug in, and one where we used to have a 2nd tv box upstairs.

The only thing I have connected to virgin these days, is my broadband. I don't watch TV, I don't even own a TV receiver anymore, its all full of brainless drivel. So I disconnected my cable tv box, and put it in storage (its the old TV M package, therefore free, and rather than it keep using electric).

I've not noticed any degredation of service despite having unterminated sockets. Is it really worth paying money out for those terminators, and if so, where would I have to get them from (please don't say ebay, I've had painful experiences with ebay)?

Also just because you're seeing no degradation yourself doesn't mean you're not breaking someone else's signal. Cable is a shared network you know.
