BT Sport. UFC Prelims

Again already...... I recorded the UFC last night, and for the third time the Preliminaries recorded but i can not watch it because it says that it's not part of my package. It is. It records everything before and after, including the main event, but once again not the prelims. Virgin Tech was no help whatsoever, other than to say it's a technical fault. Really? nooooo!!!! surely not. They say they have had a number of complaints about it. This is not the first time, but it's only happening since it change to BT Sport. It wouldn't be too bad if they showed the event again again, but they don't. They only show the main program.

So... what's the answer, anybody?

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

Sorry, but "UFC Prelims" doesn't mean a lot to me. Looks like there were 5 UFC programmes on BT Sport last night. Did you record them all? Which ones play OK, and which don't?

Are you recording the SD or HD channel?
What channel name is shown in Recorded Programmes?
What error code do you get when you try to play it?
Do you have a Samsung or Scientific-Atlanta V+?

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

The prelims are the 2hrs of fights before the main fights. They split the program into two. Basically it's five hours of fights. Two hours of under card 3 hours of main event. For whatever reason it failed for the 3rd time. It was the recording directly before the main. I know it was on because my main recording caught the tail end.

It says you are not subscribed ring this number, blah blah blah. It is utter nonsense, it's a error message not related to the problem. Of course I'm subscribed, it's part of my package, it's set to series record. It records the the correct channel and the correct time. It is a play back issue.

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

Ok, so the programme starting at 01:00 doesn't play, but the one at 03:00 does. Is that right? Did you record any of the earlier ones (at 23:00, 00:00, and 00:30)? If so, do they play?

Please also answer my other questions. I can't investigate unless I know exactly what is failing. The error code should be in the bottom right corner the error message box (maybe 2042 or 2046).

I remember Media Boy reporting a similar fault with a programme in the early hours a few years ago, but it stopped happening when I tried to investigate. (I suspect this one may go away after next week too, when the clocks go back)

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

Sorry i didn't get back. I deleted it....... It wasn't a time thing, and i didn't note the code....

What I'll do is when it does it again I'll post again properly. It's the 3rd time and only since BT Sport took it over. I did read the other posts about problems, that seemd to be that they changed the channel an hour before broadcast so they got rugby or whatever instead. Anyway. I think there's another event this weekend but it seem no prelims... So It maybe a month or two before I'm back, but I'll make proper notes next time..

Given that you are the only one reporting this, the problem may relate to your particular location. Otherwise, there must be an appallingly low audience level for these programmes if no-one else has noticed it!

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

To be on the safe side, set a manual recording to cover the time period as well.

My mate has just been chatting to me about this very problem. He's been away in Florida for 2 weeks and set all UFC programming to record. Exact same experience as you've had.

Are you recording on a Samsung V+ by any chance? That's what he has.

P.S. My mate lives in Bo'ness outside of Edinburgh

Re: BT Sport. UFC Prelims

Hi - I get the same problem too (Nottingham). Although, it happened when ESPN showed the prelims as well as BT Sport. ESPN didn't show the prelims until quite late on in their contract so maybe thats why it wasn't noticeable.

I think this is something to do with the fact I record all "UFC: Live" as a series under the HD BT Sport Channels on the Samsung V+ box I have.

I do have a fix for this. The way around this is to record the prelims on the SD channel, and keep the main event recorded on the HD channel. Since I started doing this, I've not had the problem.

Whatever it is about the prelims being recorded in HD, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure its that that will be causing it.

Edit: I should say this is a manual fix - if you record the UFC events as a series like I have, it will default to recording the prelims and main event in HD. I delete the the prelims from my planned programmes list, then set the prelims to record on the SD channel. Its no so bad since I always manually record the show immediately after the UFC event anyway since previous shows have overrun and I've missed the end of the main event. BT seem a lot better at setting an appropriate amount of time, however can't be too sorry!
