HDMI Not available error

Ever since my parents upgraded to Tivo, every now and then they get an error message 'HDMI Not available' the thing is you can still get to all the menu's, tv guide, recorded programs list etc, just cant get the tv to show.

They had an engineer out a while back and all he actually did was swop the cable to HDMI 2, it just so happened to work, but the problem is that it doesn't happen all the time, i have tried different cables when the issue is happening and it makes no difference but the next day it will be working again.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I've seen lots about it on google but nothing came up when i searched this forum.

Re: HDMI Not available error

Sounds like a problem with the HDCP handshake that's meant to prevent copying via HDMI.

May be an issue with the box or the TV.

Re: HDMI Not available error

I've had similar issues with no screen or sound through HDMI. A simple replugging of the cable with the box's switched off of course cures it. But tivo must be rebooted. Usually for me it's just when the cable has been knocked.
