Re: Upgrade delayed massively
Delays are only for existing customers of course.
New customers and those willing to upgrade or take a new 12 months minimum will get doubled downloads (but not uploads). Any extra bandwidth for these special cases gets plucked right out of Mr. Birkett's nether regions by Beardie.

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
Door to door sales are not VM - they are chancers working on commission.
VM just like to provide everybody - including existing customers - with "to the occupant" flyers in case your recycling box is a bit empty. If they spent the money on upgrades instead of mailshots maybe there would be less delay.

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
I just checked Warwick area this morning and same story here. Originally slated for July 2012 onward and now December 2012 -May 2013. Very depressing considering that this area is already 100mb if you want it. When the news broke that VM was going to double broadband speeds way back in January 2012 it was splashed everywhere. The reality is for many of us... speed doubled but not for over a year. Just wondering whether to phone up and discuss with retentions?

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
Well mine's....
Your area's upgrade is going
to take a while longer
We estimate your area will be ready between:
March 2013 and August 2013
But as I paid them an extra £2.50 a month and signed up for 12month minimum my speed went from 10Mbps to 60Mbps. The high congestion which lead to me downgrading from 50 to 10 seems to have been fixed too.

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
You would think that with such massive delays for some they would have to do something about the pricing. People paying the same for 50mb as others on 100mb, same for 30 as 60 etc. It all just seems... wrong.

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
It's the absolute worst thing about VM, their ridiculous pricing structure which is really hard to get to grips with. I am paying £41 per month for 50mb broadband, the basic telephone package (never used) and the basic (never used and disconnected) TV package which is basically only free tv stuff. I have a superhub that can only be used in modem mode. If I was getting 100mb at that price it would not be an issue but as I am on 50mb I am not a happy customer!

So call retentions. You could bin the phone line for starters although it would only save a couple of quid or so why keep it if you don't use it?

Don't worry - I did that in January for my current 'deal' and currently building up my evidence for another call.

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
They had my hopes up to get faster download and I was waiting for them to upgrade me this month just in time for when Mountain Lion comes out for the Mac so I can happily download it in the day!

Re: Upgrade delayed massively
Same here, very poor planning and communication.
Shouting from the rooftop about doubling speeds, but keeping very quiet about the long delays.
My area was due in July 2012, so are they telling me they only realised in July 2012 that it would now only be upgraded in November or December. What happens when November comes along, another delay.
Seems to me they are playing a game here, promise double speeds because there is now fibre competition, keep your existing customers on the promise, BUT then fail to even try to deliver to the promise.
What now - do they hope I will hang around until November to see if that is another hollow promise, taking my money every month of course, but failing to provide the speed to me that new customer get for the same money.
Shameful.
