I passed the scene yesterday again. The sat trucks were still there....I looked but i could not see any sign of the now traditional floral tributes which so often appear at similar scenes. Perhaps its not that sort of area..?
We should value our Police force. Often they are hamstrung by bureaucrats and bureacracy and so are not always as effective as they could be but they are a very very thin blue line between us and the mob.

All we have is a single, solitary bunch of flowers attached to the gate of the disused factory where the death occured.
Contrast this with the mounds of flowers, toys and other bric a bric which gets heaped around trees or lamposts where some scroat has crashed either his own or a stolen car whilst TWOCing/drinking/racing or whatever.
I must say that I am not in favour of "shrines" but they are now common place. I think Lady Di sparked it off.

If I ever die unexpectedly the first person to leave a football shirt at the scene is getting haunted.

So training with firearms might be dangerous. What a shocker

Depends though if they followed all safety procedures. I know in the RAF if we ever deviated from procedures we were severely deep in the doo-doo.. Especially with live fire which was a major part of my job.

there will always be an element of danger in any arms training but in this case the rounds used are not supposed to be lethal, so for a police oficer to be killed in training by a non lethal round something was very wrong with the training procedure

It was a round designed to deflate tyres quickly. Less lethal than a standard 12-gauge shell but still not something you'd want to stand in the way of.
If it can rip though a tyre or go through a reinforced door its most definately not a non-lethal round.
