The Harmony remote thread

Thought I would set up a Harmony remote thread as there seem to be a number of buttons that need to be learnt even if you select the Tivo as a Cisco CT8685.

So far I have to teach it:
Rewind
Forward
Zoom Video Window
Slow
Subtitles

All the other important commands are there in the database already.

Seeing as channel up and down now control page up and page down in menu screens the up and down arrow at the top is now ideal for thumbs up and thumbs down.

I also have added to sequences 1 for PIN and one that shows suggestion when viewing scheduled recordings which is a really handy short cut.

The sequence is:

Thumbs down
Thumbs down
Thumbs up
Back

Tomorrow I will look at how best to utilise these short cuts

Home+Home : My recordings (now playing)
Home+1 : Manage series links
Home+2 : Planned recordings (todo list)
Home+3 : Wishlists
Home+4 : Search all TV
Home+5 : Browse all TV

If anyone has found any other useful features please post.

Re: The Harmony remote thread

Thanks for this. My TIVO is being installed tomorrow, and the only thing I'm not looking forward is resetting up my Harmony from V+ to a TIVO. The last time I tried to add TIVO, it said I had no DVR

There shouldn't be as I added them all some time ago

I thought about setting these sequences up but there can potentially be a small snag.

I've had my TiVo for about a month and the home page sometimes takes a little longer to load up as the hard drive fills up. Therefore when the Harmony 'presses' the number in your sequence the command could be ignored by the box as it is still loading the home page.

I have the 555 model and I don't think I can delay the second button press during the set up but your model might be able to.

Did you inform Logitech of the missing commands directly?

I've got my TiVo due to be installed tomorrow, so I'm going to reprogram my Harmony One this evening. I was hoping it would be fairly straight forward without any 'learning; to be done.

Yes I did.

We would like to thank you for having taken the time to learn the missing commands from your original device remote, as these learned commands will now be available to other users as part of our database. As new devices come out our engineers make every effort to get the full command sets from the manufacturers, but user-learned IR codes are very helpful as well.
So I don't know why they're not there

Re: The Harmony remote thread

I've just tried to set up the Harmony One for TiVo in preparation for my install tomorrow but it looks like I actually need the TiVo remote to hand to teach it all the codes!

Re: The Harmony remote thread

As per post #6 above, you shouldn't really need to do that.

I am going to investigate this with Logitech tomorrow. (Assuming I can make them understand the problem!)

You guys are right i seem to have missed them some how only the Zoom Video Window was needed. Also noticed tonight that the harmony software is telling me that there is a update for the Tivo not had a chance to install it yet.

Have also increased the interkey delay to 0 and changed the speed setting to one to see if I can get it to match the original remote a little better.

Re: The Harmony remote thread

Hi,

Am getting TiVo on Thursday so thought I'd look at setting up my 885..
I've tried a few settings - how did you get Cisco CT8685 to be a PVR?
When I try it I get 'satellite'..

I do get a PVR for 'VirginMedia TiVo' - this picks up V+ as a similar device but at least I can go through the advanced setup and tell it that it's a TiVo.

Guess I'm spending Good Friday programming...

By the way also tried 'TiVo CT8685' this did work as a PVR but picks up a TCD-648 (whatever that is!)

Maybe try again when I actually have the remote but any tips? When I add device what type do I choose, what manufacturer & what model??

Thanks for your help,

Ian

Re: The Harmony remote thread

I don't think it matters what device you select it as, as it always comes up as 'satellite'. But it works.

Re: The Harmony remote thread

Ok thanks - maybe just being a bit anal but with a pvr you get the pause symbol on the watch tv icon and more importantly you can tell it that the pvr is a tivo so can get the thumbs up/down .. I'll play with it at the weekend and see which way works best.

Re: The Harmony remote thread

I've just added Tivo to my harmony one remote using the Cisco 'satellite' box.

The only command i had to learn off the Tivo remote was 'TV'.

There isn't a 'HOME' button, but Menu does the same job.

Only just done it, so needs a thorough test, but so far, working perfectly.

I don't know if it puts icons for the thumbs, as I put those on the extra up/down hard buttons that the Harmony one has.

TV is already mapped to the Exit button.
