Attitude of Virgin Media staff towards their job/employer.
I was talking to somebody today both about the closure of Albert Dock and Virgin Media in general.
Would it be fair and correct to say that most VM staff are, in the main, enthusiastic about the products and services that the company has to offer?
This seems to be the case as so many tend to frequent various forums in their spare time to talk about VM and answer queries etc.
However, it may be that the staff who do post are in a minority and that, in the main, staff simply see their employment with the company as just another job which could be in any, for example, call centre.
Which scenario would staff say is most accurate?

As a member of staff my feelings are that i have just answered that question in the heartbeat survey which all staff will have seen, So the managers know how i and others feel about our managers and company. I don't think its for me to post how i feel about my employer on a public forum.

Re: Attitude of Virgin Media staff towards their job/employer.
I would advise any member of staff to think very carefully before answering this thread. Positive statements may well be welcomed by your employer. But there are now too many examples on the internet where posting negatively about your employer can be regarded as misconduct.

Best to despise the management so that when you get the sack you won't feel as bitter.

Given the stink you caused on Digital Spy over staff whose attitude you disapproved of, I will be monumentally surprised if any of them are daft enough to trust you with an answer on this forum.
In case anyone has forgotten ...

... more or less sums it up. A whole lot more posts like it were deleted by the DS forum staff at the time. I'm sure you remember.

Can I ask why you are so interested in this topic? What are you looking to achieve by creating this thread? I'm just curious as you are inviting comments from employees of Virgin that could result in disciplinary action. From my point of view it almost looks like you are trying to cause trouble, but of course I could be wrong.

Usually this type of thread is about a disgruntled customer trying to make up excuses to have a moan
Best to say to the thread and leave it at that

I vaguely recall the thread that you refer to, but it is nearly two years old! I personally wouldn't have the time or inclination to go digging up the historical posts of others. I have no recollection of any deleted posts
Are you always so suspicious?

The point is simple really. A lot of VM staff seem to be very interested in both what the company is doing and what products/services they offer, for example, in their free time they happily have a "busmans holiday" chatting about VM and offering advice etc.
A comparison can be made about those who work on the railways. To some it's just a job to pay the mortgage, yet to others it is a joy to go to work to indulge in their favourite hobby.
I am just wondering if this is representative of staff in general, or if i'm wrong and it's forums such as these that make it appear so.
I see no reason for disciplinary action if one simply says that their job is more than just a job to them or not!
@ sirius (or anyone else), what did you think of the survey? Eg was it easy to understand, did it allow you to express your opinion, too long, too short??
For the record I am not asking what you think of your employer, but your job. To be fair the thread title could have been worded better

I am in no way disgruntled with VM. In fact, I have just renewed one of our business broadband/phone contracts.
I have no comment to make about your last puerile statement, but can infer from it that we won't be seeing you in this thread again.

You're very defensive of a "Usually" comment

Re: Attitude of Virgin Media staff towards their job/employer.
I see you haven't followed your own advice to others to boycott this thread. Not only did you read it, comment upon it, subscribe to it, but you continue to contribute- how bizzarre.
To answer your point, I was merely correcting your erroneous assumption.

Re: Attitude of Virgin Media staff towards their job/employer.
That assumes the assumption was erroneous...
Surely any assumptions about assumptions only compound that assumption, either arithmetically or logarithmically, unless, of course, it is an inverse assumption.
btw, Mods/Admins can't "boycott" threads - how could we moderate them if we did that?

Re: Attitude of Virgin Media staff towards their job/employer.
Yet again another defence by the OP..how weird.. anyone would think that you're not getting your ammunition against VM (as per your usual attempts over the years)... I wonder why
As for staying with this thread I never could ignore comical threads..it's what keeps me sane Still doesn't change my advice to others..
PS.. I'm not subscribed to this thread

Indeed I'm sitting here in my deckchair eating my popcorn watching a train wreck of a thread..

Vaguely recall? I'm sure the Virgin Media staff members who you felt it necessary to 'report' to in order to get their posts 'monitored' have more than a vague recollection.
I choose to believe that you are overstating the vagueness of your memory somewhat. If VM staff upset you to the point where you felt it necessary to have a word with your 'contact' in VM, I believe you would be unlikely to forget it in a hurry.
The point is, it is my firm conviction that those Virgin Media staff who frequent internet forums in general (not necessarily just this one), and who know of you by your online name and reputation, do not trust you and are unlikely to engage with you in a topic such as this for fear that you might again find it necessary to complain about them to your 'contact' if you take a dislike to their attitude.
