Tivo - Is this common?
Hi,
Over night or throughout the day I leave my new Tivo box on stand-by. However when I come to turn it on nothing happens and I have to switch it off and on at the back of the box. Surely this isn't normal - or is it?
Thanks
Liam

It's not normal. What happens if you leave it on instead?

Re: Tivo - Is this common?
My new Tivo does this too : / Just sits there for a while, no pic, no HDMI signal, nothing.
Eventually it starts up. Leaving it on standby doesn't help either and it turns itself off when TV is off so cant leave it on. Once it works it will be all good until it decides I'm not authorised to watch ITV and kill the pic and flash an annoying message telling me so.
G/f already wants old box back : ( But I will hope for a fix as when it works it's pretty good. I connected a ethernet cable so it could use my 50 bb which seemed to help for a while. Any ideas welcome : )

Is this the HDMI handshake issue that should be resolved with the next update?

Sounds likely, do you know when its due?
Any ideas why it's dropping the channels? I press channel down and the back up and channel is restored, gets annoying though.

Re: Tivo - Is this common?
It is being rolled out now. There is a list floating around somewhere of the dates and areas before the end of this month anyway.

Re: Tivo - Is this common?
Thats good news, thanks for the info.
I just solved the channel issue, the cable got lose in the screw on connector when the engineer installed it, just touching it causes the signal to drop, just done some diy plug fixing, seems ok, guess they send me a new one if i ask them?
Remembrance Sunday looks great in HD : )

It's not possible to send one by post. Ring up and they'll book a tech to come out and fix it.

That is so true. Until the pilot completes, nobody knows when it will roll out. There would be no point in having a pilot if the roll-out was going to happen regardless of the results.

Re: Tivo - Is this common?
Is there any way of finding out which head end you are connected to?
I have had a look at MB's list and there are a 2 or 3 possibilities for my town.
Thanks
