Virgin Media to beef up TiVo EPG checks
Virgin Media are to dedicate “more” resources to spotting errors in the programme guide for their TiVo set top box according to a staff post on the company’s official support forum

Thanks for that link. Just used it to report a possible mistake for this Friday on Sky Living at 9PM when Medium should be showing they have something called Maury.

According to the TiVo’s programme guide, this week’s Doctor Who was to star William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker instead of current lead actor Matt Smith.

Utterly incompetent. There is absolutely no excuse for muppetry like that on a service their customers pay a premium to receive.

Kind of makes paying the 3.00 TIVO charge pointless , after all what goods a wishlist with incorrect data

I've been saying that for a while, but others claim to have no issues and/or are willing to put up with it because TiVo is 'New'.
Here's some feedback from VM:

Tribune are meant to be in control of the epg data but do seem to making a few mistakes. Wether that is due to what programme data they are given or if they are actually making the mistakes themselves I don't know.
The Doctor Who issue was fixed pretty quickly after it was reported, so someone is on the ball. Most of this series of Who was fine but 1 or 2 episodes have been listed as classic Who meaning it messes up the series link.

And if, like me, your were on holiday at the time expecting to come back to a recording of the first episode in this second half of the series link of Doctor Who only to find nothing, you'd be pretty annoyed at the lack of quality control applied to the EPG data.

'On the ball' in the same sense as the goalkeeper is on the ball when he picks it out of his own net.
If they were on the ball, such an obvious mistake wouldn't have been made in the metadata of one of the most high-profile and widely viewed programmes on British TV. Timeshifting is worth 1.5 - 2.0 million viewers per week to Doctor Who - at least some of them are going to be VM TiVo users. This error has impacted on a lot of people.
The TiVo service doesn't stand or fall on how quickly its operators respond to complaints, but on how well the information the service relies on is handled in the first place. On current evidence they still have a lot of work to do to justify charging people the premium that information is supposed to be worth.
