My SA V+ HD box is now doing strange things...

Been getting progressively worse over the last couple of months, but here goes:

1. Now reboots itself every 1-2 days. Not just around the midnight update (aka remote slow down) but it's started rebooting itself when I just bring it out of standby when get home from work.
Starting to get annoying now as the reboots keep splitting my planned recordings with a couple of mins chunk missing.
I've had the box a few years now, it's the SA one, so is it just getting old and knackered?

2. It's alway occassionally done this but again like above it's happening more and more regularly.....when I power on the V+, the Sony LCD, and the sony all-in-one blu ray/surround sound all at the same time, the V+ picture come up and constantly flicks on and off. The TV shows the external inputs banner at the top and it's as if the V+ picture signal is switching on and off, which does'nt make sense as the sound is constant.
It can't be the tv as when I change the input to the blu ray or PS3, there's none of this, again is the V+ box old and knackered?

3. Now, it has always done this but might as well ask whilst I'm here When the V+ box is in standby and the all-in-one surround sound is on, the sound is still on from the V+. I have it connected via optic cables but surely when in standby both pictures and sound should be off?

It's a real pain in the butt taking time off work to suit VM engineer visits so I don't want to call them out unless absolutely necessary. So is it the V+ box and does it need replacing?

I did think if this was the time to move to Tivo but I genuinely don't need the extra disk space and I can't justify £36 extra annual subs (plus whatever the tivo purchase/installation fee is) especially when it does'nt even have the sky sports red button which the V+ does (albeit temperamental).

thanks and any advice appreciated as always

Any engineer visit can be arranged to suit you and the may even be availability for this coming Bank Holiday Monday, so give them a call.

I've just had to have my SA box changed over as I lost all picture on Saturday but had sound.

Indian CS kept saying there was a service issue in my area which was causing the issue even though the other 2 boxes in the house were working fine.

Had the box replaced with a Samsung yesterday and so far so good !!

Concern is that I wait all day for an engineer in my own time then to be told that there is no fault and I'm back to square 1.

Anybody else had these issues and confirm it's the box that needs replacing?

I'd suggest reformatting it first. If it keeps rebooting after that, it should be swapped.

Re: My SA V+ HD box is now doing strange things...

That wont happen, all techs know that the sa box is dead buggy, constantly rebooting required a box swap
