How stupid is this government
www.sky.com This story has made me full of anger on how stupid this government is by throwing away millions on trying to educate troublesome families and are going to allow one worker to work with them.
What these families need is jobs, they don't need some toffee nosed person to try and teach them how to keep out of trouble.
Families are torn apart by poverty, and this is why they go and commit crime to fill there habit, ie drugs, ciggies, booze.
Families need to have work, which brings in money for them to survive in life, What Cameron and Clegg are doing is wasting OUR money for nothing, it is not workable, and if Cameron and co think it will, are living in cuckoo land, There is not even staff anyway to help thes families, Cameron has stated that there will be ONE worker with each family, where they going to come from. Get a life Cameron.

Re: How stupid is this government
Beat me too it Arthur I was just reading this and debating whether to start a thread about it ,
The type of family this is aimed at wouldn't work if a good job jumped into their lap .
However ,i do agree that throwing resources at them is a waste .I am more concerned that there are 28 government services available for families like these already

Re: How stupid is this government
It has very, very little to do with lack of jobs. If they're that poor, how can they indulge in drugs, ciggies, booze in the first place. When you give them more money, what do you think they spend it on? Drugs, ciggies, booze.
How on earth does lack of money lead to kids throwing bricks through windows or lumps of concrete from bridges onto cars below? Most of them are completely unemployable in the first place.
You do realise that each worker will not only deal with that family, but others as well. The idea is that the family will only have to deal with that one worker, rather than several

Re: How stupid is this government
It sounds like a "job for the boys" more than a "one stop shop" to co-ordinate different agencies or whatever. A real "non-job" of the sort that they are supposed to be getting rid of.
60% paid for by councils, 40% by HMG IF they get good results.

Yes it will be as welcome as a infestation of rats in a cooks kitchen.

Re: How stupid is this government
Was a similiar story on the BBC website today, about one of the families in question, who'd had something like 10? kids, but had 8? taken away from them, so were left with 2.
The father was about 40ish, with no teeth and could hardly speak, the mother was spotty and looked, well, like she'd been doing drugs.
Not really sure if there is any "helping" people like that.
Was interesting though, mostly because it costs the tax payers 9 billion pounds a year to "help" families like this.
Can't find the darn story now.

I don't think poverty is really a lack of money. The problems of these people stem from feeling poor, poor choices and behaviours.
IMO these people need to help themselves first, then they will get the help they need.Just giving them money won't change a thing.Equally setting up vast, expansive and especially expensive programs is not desirable.
They need to change their poor behaviour, stop feeling poor.

Re: How stupid is this government
I knew that this thread would start good debate, some for and some against.
The government are throwing money away as if it was confetti, didn't a couple of weeks ago say they were going to spend millions of trying to get people into work, now they come up with this stupid idea.
IF, they are going to throw money away, give it to low businesses as a long term loans to make businesses that WILL take on staff, create apprenticeships within British companies.
Families, that are deep into problems have social services that they can contact, my daughter who is not a problem person deals with them, and they are inundated with problems, that they cannot cope.
What families that need help won't give a damn about this, they know they won't get the help as it will be done on poverty basis.

so a staunch labour socialist, doesn't believe in helping the most needy in society?
You sure you're not a closet Tory?
