Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
Have been getting terrible local speeds on my wireless with superhub(sometimes slowing to 1mbps)
Downloaded isidder and checked no one else on or need my bandwidth
ip flood turned off, firewall off etc.
Still occasionally getting 1mbps local throughput on wireless especially during peak times. This is quite frustrating.
I tried setting up a guest network to see if that would be better. Did than about 20 mins later my main network fell down but guest stayed up.
Now here's the interesting bit. When I had guest on or off and main network up on isidder the time line scan was varying massively. Since the main network has been down the signal strength on the guest network has been dead flat. Great signal.
Still my local wireless speeds are varying massively excellent connection and currently 2mbps local speeds.
Anyone got any ideas?
On R26 as of today. Had this issue throughout firmware updates.
Cheers.

Try switching the 802.11 mode to 145mbps.

ah didn't mention. Done that already. Speeds back up and fine again now, but every now and then during peak times slows right down. Can't see why router would be slowing my local traffic. Highly annoying. Any thoughts?

Make sure under advanced wireless settings the Disable WPS PIN option is checked. Also change the wireless mode to up to 300 Mbps and switch around to different wireless channels.

cool will do in the morning. Still can only see guest network after many reboots. Will have to reset the whole modem when I get up I guess will then do as you suggest.

yep done all that. Getting 9mbps on local connections at the moment. Plugged into router wired all fine. Going to plug my old wireless router into the system until superhub firmware actually works.

Re: Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
Seeing as VM haven't acknowledged the wireless as being an issue, I wouldn't expect it to be fixed in a firmware update any time soon. Either it is just a small number of us experiencing it as some people claim, or the radio hardware just isn't up to the task and a firmware update wouldn't help with that.

Re: Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
still suprises me that my 5 year old budget wifi router doesn't throttle my internet speeds like the superhub does.
V Strange indeed. Still I've got something that works. I'll wait until the superhub problems have been ironed out before going back to letting it run everything which is to me very attractive just doesn't seem to work

Re: Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
It's really strange how it seems to vary from user to user - just done this speedtest from this site, via the VMDG480 to my iPad2.
Quote:

Test 1: 1024K took 341 ms = 3002.9 KB/sec, approx 24744 Kbps, 24.16 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 314 ms = 3261.1 KB/sec, approx 26871 Kbps, 26.24 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 287 ms = 3567.9 KB/sec, approx 29399 Kbps, 28.71 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 631 ms = 3245.6 KB/sec, approx 26744 Kbps, 26.12 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 26940 Kbps, 26.31 Mbps

it would seem variables in customers' environment affect it more than is acceptable on a CPE.

Re: Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
Yet another Superhub problem suggesting wireless is the culprit...
... which is going to make it even harder to pinpoint as wireless in inherently variable and outside of VM's control ...

Re: Something interesting on superhub and something annoying
I have issues with WiFi connectivity - ie every so often it has a sulk and nothing can connect + a high volume network transfer in 300Mbps mode bowls it over.
I did a few tests with my replacement superhub and I've documented elsewhere the poor results but strangely enough a speedtest.net test showed my usual good speeds 50/4.7Mbps and pretty much unchanged ping.
Currently I'm piggy-backing a VM freebie WNR2000 router and I've noticed that this has noticeably increased ping. I don't do gaming and my voip phone seems to be ok still but it's not ideal and I will only bother upgrading the router if the CEO office provide me with a VMNG300.
