Recordings cut short

Anyone else suffering this at the minute - the last 4 or 5 recordings have all been cut short, missing the last few minutes of each program.

Yes, happened on a few recordings at Xmas. A right pain.

Re: Recordings cut short

This happens at times with every PVR I have/have had/rent ...

This can usually usefully be avoided by recording MANUALLY - i.e. on e.g. VM go through appropriate interface/enter start-end times/channel ...

Re: Recordings cut short

Yep, the Top Gear Special pt2. What's weird is it had told me it had recorded for 1hr 27mins in the V+ recorded programme list. Playing it stops at 36mins and tells me that's it!

I tried fast-forwarding past, but nada.

Grrrr...............

And me as well.
I have set it up that it starts 2 mins before and 5 after but several recordings have not done what I asked them to do.
Thank god for VOD!

Re: Recordings cut short

Indeed... There has certainly been a problem especially with BBC recordings over the last week or so. It loses the last few minutes.

Re: Recordings cut short

I think it's down to the channel start times .we have noticed BBC recordings finishing early over christmas ,but ITV are notorious for it at any time of the year .Over christmas the BBC showed a lot of adverts for there programs prior to the start of ,say Eastenders meaning that the actual program was starting late but the recording was for the correct time .Changing the padding doesn't help because that means you just get a lot of recording clashes

Re: Recordings cut short

Hmmm ... I use a Sky+ so, obviously, can't comment on V+ boxes.

However there is a problem with the Sky+ in that it will sometimes allow a recording to be set that clashes with a recording set by a series link.

Sometimes you will lose a few minutes at the beginning, sometimes a few minutes at the end and now and again a whole program. The Sky+ marks these as Part Recorded due to a clash or Failed due to a technical problem.

My point is, if these recording failures weren't marked as clashes or tech faults I might be left wondering about intermittant recording problems.

I just wondered if these ramblings might help to throw some light on the problem being discussed.

Re: Recordings cut short

I have an issue where the recording stops abruptly in the middle of the programme. For example, Miss Marple last night set to record (about a two hour programme). We started to watch it about 30mins after the start, and sped through the adverts. However about 90mins through the recording, it just stopped - so I missed out about 10mins and had to go to live TV.
