NO HD on Pay per view fight Haye v harrison?

just out of curiosity, has anybody else been told by VM on the phone that they are only transmitting the normal picture?

i've got the V+ HD box & i've got a 3D TV. to my total surprise they told me i have to pay the same fee Sky are charging but i don't get a choice of a viewing format of 3D or HD

if this is true then why on earth are they bothering with us having an HD box if they don't transmit it? & why are we paying the same amount as Sky customers that get the choice

looks like i'll be paying Sky for it at my friends house instead then.

They don't show the HD version because Sky don't let them.

Re: NO HD on Pay per view fight Haye v harrison?

that's a bad con then. (of sky's)

rather than me being annoyed by this why on earth couldn't the woman on the end of the phone say that? instead she just kept repeating "there isn't a choice, it's just normal picture"

still, in principle i am still right, we shouldn't be paying the same cost for a lower standard.

Because saying sky won't let them is not the professional thing to say. The CS rep was correct that there is not a choice.

Re: NO HD on Pay per view fight Haye v harrison?

Maybe VM should negotiate a cheaper price with Sky then, its hardly fair we pay the same and get an SD picture whilst Sky customers can have the event in HD and 3D.
Seems to me this is one that Ofcom should be looking at.

The main problem wasn't the lack of HD, it was the lack of punches from Audley Harrison.

There is nothing to negotiate:

virgin say "I want it cheaper"
sky say "no"

then what...

True, 1 punch landed £14.95

The fight from America was a million times better (not David Hayes fault). The problem I have was the picture quality on this PPV in SD was not that brilliant it seemed in patches highly compressed

I know the fight from America I watched on SS1 HD but it was not in HD and the upscaled picture quality was brilliant!

Did everyone manage to watch the fight that ordered it? I only ask as there have been a lot of problems with events in the past which have put me off ordering.

Er thats why we have a regulator is it not to make sure the consumer is not getting ripped off.By being charged the same price for an inferior product.

Well, I had a picture on the screen.... If I said that I watched a 'fight' I think I would have Trading Standards jumping on me. I saw a punch bag in the third round though.......
