Samsung V+ Box, what a difference!

This box is so much better than my old SA. Only minor thing is picture quality is not quite as good. However no more freezing, especially late at night when changing channels. Everything is pretty much instant. Anyone else find it better?

Re: Samsung V+ Box, what a difference!

I'm still on an old SA V+ box that we got years ago and i don't really have a problem with it. It is a bit dodgy when flicking through channels though and especially in the early hours just after midnight. I can live with that though.

Is it just the channel flicking that's better with the Samsung box then ?

Better fast forward and rewind, much quieter when recording and of course channel changing and no slowdowns.

Re: Samsung V+ Box, what a difference!

We got a new samsung last week and the difference isn't massive but it does feel more polished to use, when the tv guide loads the data does too! When you change channel the screen goes black right away. When your are going through the channels but without changing channel the tv guide data matches the tv channel.

All in it's a much better box

So if you have a working SA box then how do you get VM to replace it with the Samsung box? Will they do this on request?

The only way they will replace your box is if it develops a fault but you would only get whatever the engineer has on the van which could be another SA, personally I prefer my SA as it has worked without hiccup for over 2.5 years now.

Re: Samsung V+ Box, what a difference!

Is the picture quality not being as good as the SA really a minor issue? That's if it is of course. I've never seen a Samsung in operation.

Just as an aside I'm watching a recording of the Spanish footie. Not HD but the picture quality is just superb from the SA.

Are you serious? The SA box was the 1 thing that nearly put me off getting VM, it's horrible, I absolutely hate the thing. The Samsung, on the other hand, is brill.

I've got an sa box and could swap it anytime for a samsung out of my van but a year later I'm still using the sa. It has it's little hiccups but on the whole it's reliable

Ok fair enough, does the unresponsiveness of the thing not drive you up the wall? It does me.

It annoys my wife as she's a channel flicker but I usually use the arrows to read what's on then press ok.

Lol fair enough, it must be me who's impatient, even flicking through using the arrows annoys me

I pay for an HD box to watch HD programmes on, if the picture is (allegedly) better on a SA box, than a Samsung , then that is what I would prefer - the time to switch channels is irrelevant compared to the picture quality, in my opinion.

If you want to flick channels, rather than watch anything, then get the one that flicks faster, if you can - but I prefer watching to flicking
