How to enable - AHCI mode

Hi,

I am going to buy a new motherboard & new Intel processor. I have a SSD drive and need to enable AHCI mode in the new motherboard, but cannot find this option in many motherboards' manuals (like Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2H). Link to this manual:
http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileLi...41m-es2h_e.pdf

I am not sure, as the default mode on many motherboards is IDE, and SSD is much slower in this mode...

Any ideas?

Max

Re: How to enable - AHCI mode

To enable AHCI mode in most board's you have to go in to the storage information, part of the bios and then change it there.

If it is a gigabyte board that you are getting maybe you could also ask on the gigabyte forum aswell.

Re: How to enable - AHCI mode

In my ASUS motherboard BIOS there is a SATA configuration option which is where you set IDE or ACHI. I can't see that option in the manual you refer to.

It will be easy enough to find once you have the system up and running

Integrated peripherals on chip sata mode

Re: How to enable - AHCI mode

well its sata mode according to the manual so you assume its running to full sata spec

one way to find out is install a test OS win 7 for example in ide mode. The edit registry to enable ACHI then reboot and change to enhanced mode . If it boots bobs your uncle
