My Internet explorer doesn't work

When I open Internet Explorer (8) on a Vista operating system, it completely jams up my computer. It seems to open 2 windows, and I can close them using the task manager if I'm quick. However it renders my computer a little useless for when those 2 windows are open.

I'm using firefox atm, but I really would like to know what's wrong with Internet Explorer.

Thanks.

Re: My Internet explorer doesn't work

Firstly, welcome to the forums.

Find out if any add-ons are causing it to freeze up by running Internet Explorer without add-ons.

Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If it works, then follow the info in this guide here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2...25/678113.aspx

If it doesnt, check you don't have any spyware or adware that could be messing things up.
Run a scan with malware bytes. Available free online.

If that doesnt work try updating to the latest version of Internet Explorer and re-install the application.

Re: My Internet explorer doesn't work

Thanks for your help.

However, I've just upgraded to Windows 7 and for some unknown reason Internet Explorer is now fine. I don't know why, but I won't say no.

I'll keep your post handy in case it goes wrong again, but it looks like I'm saved.

Re: My Internet explorer doesn't work

Kick off IE and Install Chrome, or Opera, or Firefox. Doesn't matter, install something different than this **** called IE
