Accessing NTLWORLD email outside of the Virgin network

There were some threads, apparently no longer available, that dealt with accessing Virgin email account when not on the Virgin cable or telephone network.

As I recall, it was the general consensus that VM only allow access to their email service through the VM network.

Well, here I am in Brussels, on the Eurowisp wifi service, happily accessing my NTLWORLD e-mails.

Have VM lifted the restriction - does anyone know?

You can receive but not send. However, webmail is available everywhere and can do both.

Works both ways as a POP3 account here in Brussels.

You can do both, just setup out bound authentication in your client. Same say loads of people do on iPhones etc

Seems to work for me and I'm NTL

Some people have had problems with SMTP but all you have to do is to relay through the SMTP of your current ISP

I can do both in Brussels without outbound authentication.

There's been so much said in these forums about not being able to freely use the NTL Account other than on a VM service; indeed on my O2 ADSL link, that is the case.

Re: Accessing NTLWORLD email outside of the Virgin network

I have set my mobile (Orange) to send and receive emails, I receive them via NTL/VM but can only send via Orrange.

My other account (Globalnet) only lets me receive emails through NTL/VM but not send in outlook.
