A lot of people do just that and it will cause no problems when you switch back on, just turn them on in order modem first and let the lights settle then your router.

I switch my modem and router on at exactly the same time and don't have any trouble.
It depends how clever the router is at picking up an IP, some routers will pickup the 192.168 IP before the Modem has connected to the network and lock on to that IP and either not change or take a long time
