Think there something wrong with my PC

Hi,

I think there is something wrong with my PC Windows XP SP3

Today I went out, came back and it was locking up, Internet Explorer and Outlook Express was locking up when trying to do something, so had to end tasks on both.

The mouse would freeze, but could use the keyboard, just changed batteries in the mouse just in case it was that.

Any ideas ?

I am about to run NOD32 Anti Virus and Spybot, then Malwarebytes free.

Re: Think there something wrong with my PC

If you looked in task manager you could see if there was anything utilising the CPU. or a simple reboot might fix it.

I have already rebooted, when I post so I can't check task manager forgot about that.

Just waiting for the virus scan to finish.
I did a HiJackThis and it seems clean

Might want to look in administrative tools, event viewer for issues too.

Just check the event viewer and nothing in there, that looks out of place

Re: Think there something wrong with my PC

It may just be that one of the pieces of software hit an issue or hit a script and was running the CPU at 100% and this stopped the other software in its tracks. Unless it happens again I wouldn't see it as a majorr issue, if it's been ongoing then I would start looking at isolating things to see which was the cause.
