Router stops for 10 minutes after making changes

Hi all
I've just joined Virgin with a 20Mbit connection.
I run a few servers at home for various things so needed to do a bit of custom port forwarding.
The trouble is every time I change anything in the router settings the router stops passing traffic for about 10 minutes. I can't see any obvious reason for this and as I tend to tweek things now and then it's becoming Very annoying.
I can still access the router during the downtime but absolutly no traffic will pass through it.
Other than that it works fine and I'm pleased it's a Netgear router and not a crappy Sagem like Sky forced on me.

Takes about 40 seconds for it to start serving data again here.

Having used the netgear and the sagem, i'd take the sagem any day though.
