Smile Getting Office Data Files Into Microsoft Outlook

Hi,

I'm using Microsoft Office 2002 with Windows XP Professional.

I have a number of office data files from my old computer and I want to get them all into one file on my new computer so that all the contacts, e-mails etc can be accessed by Microsoft Outlook.

Though they were saved as .PST files, Outlook appears unwilling to import them.

Is there a simple procedure to do this please?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated please. TIA.

Are you saying that you copied the pst file over and have setup outlook to use that pst file?

No. I exported the files from Outlook onto a USB drive as .PST files but when I try to re-import them Outlook says they are not outlook data files and refuses to import them.

Have you tried putting it directly onto your c: drive then try? usually they are in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\outlook folder.

Re: Getting Office Data Files Into Microsoft Outlook

Before you removed the USB drive did you close the .pst file in the version of outlook you'd exported them from and then close Outlook itself?

Outlook has a nasty habit of hooking itself into open .pst files in such a way that if you don't close it down fully before you remove the media the .pst can get corrupted.
