Was having a demo of the V+ system at a friends house recently. When trying iplayer we found that as soon as the program started the picture would start to flicker and scroll around - just like loss of vertical hold in the old days.
As soon as we stopped the playback the picture stablised again. This was connected to a Sony LCD TV but not via HDMI.
All other functions - ie standard Cable TV channels, playback of recordings etc are all fine.
He's going to log it with Virgin but wants to watch all the recordings first in case the engineer swaps the box.

That is Macrovision copy protection affecting the TV. A box swap would make no difference.
If he's got the SCART going via a VCR or DVD, he should rewire it so the TV is connected directly to the V+. Changing the V+ video output between composite and RGB may also help.
But the best solution would be using HDMI, if he can.
