Unhappy How Do I Record V+ to DVD ??

Can anyone help please?
I have a V+ box which is great but I can't seem to copy and saved items to a seperate dvd recorder/hard drive which is a sony 250gb about 3 years old.

have tryed different line in's on the sony scart and phono but it just won't record the output from the V+

do I need to do anything else on the V+ other than just follow the on screen menu/prompts?

am going to try another dvd recorder as was told sony may not record if it thinks the media is copy protected??!!

help please as we have nearly filled the hard drive on the V+,kids films etc

thanks in advance

alan

Re: How Do I Record V+ to DVD ??

If the Sony's complaining of Macrovision protection, an inexpensive "Macrobuster" SCART lead will get shot of it.

thanks for that, might be a cheap fix.

also had another thought......could the sony be analogue only and the v+ is digital therefore they will not speak to each other??

Re: How Do I Record V+ to DVD ??

If you're connecting the 2 via SCART, the signal's converted to analogue. It's more likely the DVD recorder's digital only, now I think about it.

Sorry do not understand "Macro" what ever.

Have you set the DVD to see The V+ box ( ie if you view the TV via the DVD you can change what you see using the V+). If so set the V+ to record to the DVD & press record on the DVD this works for me. Of cause you can not use the V+ at the same time ( Unless someones knows diffently I do it when no one is home or watch Freeview)

V+ is specifically designed so you can output a recording and *still* use the box nornally

make sure your Sony is plugged into V+ VCR socket (the only one that does this)

follow the V+ prompts for 'output to VCR'

switch TV input to your Sony and check whether you can see the V+ ouput - if thats appears fine then it's working

go back to V+ - restart ouptu to VCR - press record on your Sony

if you again switch TV input to sony you should be able to see exactly what is being output from V+

.

Oh P.S.

then carry on using your V+ as normal

*Thanks for this. Have never tried it. To be honest I have had no reason too. But it is good to know. I am going back to the standard box when what you saw is what you get !!

Re: How Do I Record V+ to DVD ??

thanks everyone, got there in the end,
read the sony manual 3 times 118 pages ! RDR-HX1000
used line 3/decoder and changed it to input video and got signal from v+ box and away we went...that took 3 hours to work out!
the only down side is that when the v+ box has finished sending what you have chosen to copy it then reverts to what you are watching on the tele (live or recorded)
so after a sucessful copy of a barbie film onto the sony hard drive it also included 25 mins of wire in the blood.... not suitable for a 4 year old !!!!.
thanks again....
