Losing ADLS Sync

Hi Guys,

I am hoping you can help me! Seeing as pipex support sucks and all they ask you to do is stay logged in as a test login overnight before they bother there bum getting bt to check the line I thought I could use your expert advice.

Basically what is happening is sometimes when the phone is picked up or hung up I lose my internet connection or the router loses it's adsl sync. I have to then reboot the router and it comes back, but this is very annoying especially if i want to play online games, kinda kills the good scores

So far I have replaced the filters, filters are in both telephone points. The router (SWART2-54125) is plugged into the master socket with an extension going downstairs and the phone is plugged in there with a filter. The phone has been replaced as have the filters, i have not changed anything on the config of the router. The weird thing is it just started, one day happy as larry, the next

I have tried plugging the phone straight into the master socket that the router is plugged in and seemed ok, but it can be random. it won't drop for 2 weeks and start up again.

I have no idea what it could be, but i think it is something to do with the bt line mainly because it just started.

Maybe it's the ISP (currently pipex) and was wondering if i moved to bt they would at least easily check the line. Does modulation make a difference? Never lost the sync at all in glasgow, thing could be on for months!

I would be very grateful if you could suggest something i could try as i will end up with no phone as the cable will get cut :P

It has been working fine for ages and this just started. Are you aware of an issue with this router?

Not specifically I had an SWBR-5400 cable router and found it's wireless used to sometimes play up and that it didn't like to work to hard but otherwise it worked.

i've only ever set one Safecom ADSL router up and again it was the wireless part of it had most problems with the ADSL modem just worked.

Re: Losing ADLS Sync

Thats a good point! Normally when testing it is the wireless i use as my laptop and my dads pc is wireless and it is rare i use the desktop which is RJ45. Wonder if that helps hmm. Very annoying problem as sometimes it stays connected for ages then every phone call knocks it off. and because it's so random testing each part is tricky to narrow it down. I have a horrible feeling it is the extension cable for the phone

Thanks for the replies!

Quite possible, particularly if the cable is incorrectly wired or has become damaged
