Its the truth?
Received this today as an email, thought I would share it and see what sort of debate it starts. All words are by the Aussie PM and not mine.
England, America and Canada Needs A Leader Like This!
Prime Minister John Howard - Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'
'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'
'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'
'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'
'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'
'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,
'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Dunno, if it has been around a while it took its blinkin time getting to me, obviously his thoughts didnt work to well otherwise he would still be PM.
I'd vote for him though.
Maybe I should edit my OP and say that these words were his whilst he was PM.

Re: Its the truth?
Fur Gott und Vaterland, eh? That's totally ghastly, I strongly suspect even John Howard wouldn't come out with such utter tripe. And in fact he didn't, as a quick visit to snopes.com can confirm:
Quote:
Variations: A January 2008 version combined elements of this piece with a 2001 editorial about immigrants written by a U.S. Air Force veteran, creating the misleading impression that the hybrid version reflected a speech given by Australian prime minister John Howard.
|

so someone's been taken in. Word of advice: if you read something outrageous that agrees with your own startling evidence-free right-wing opinions, do take the time to check that you haven't been completely taken for a ride, preferably before you go public. The old maxim that a lie can be halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on is even more true with the internet. You're only hurting your own case, really.

Seriously, did you not notice the Australian General Election? When he was exposed as a racist, a liar and a warmonger and booted out not only from the office of Prime Minister but from his seat too? Following that, a lot of his dafter proposals (including Australia's version of ID cards) got instantly canned. Incidentally, Kevin Rudd is a fervent Christian, if that's your idea of a good leader. Still, if you get your view of the world from fraudulent chain emails, you might miss things, so here you go:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/7111479.stm
Quote:
Mr Rudd signalled a swift break with his predecessor's policies by promising to sign the Kyoto Protocol and pull troops out of Iraq.
He also promised to attend next month's UN climate change summit in Bali.
Meanwhile, Peter Costello - Mr Howard's nominated successor - has turned down the post of opposition leader.
The BBC's Phil Mercer in Sydney says that Australia's conservatives are wounded and fractured and it could take them years to recover from this election defeat.
With just over 75% of ballots counted, Mr Rudd's Labor has 53% of the vote and Mr Howard's conservative coalition 46.5%.

Howard got in and stayed in with the same spin tricks Blair and Bush used, plus a nasty dose of veiled anti-immigrant racism. So much for 'refreshingly honest', then. His spin specialist Lynton Crosby later worked on Michael Howard's Conservatives campaign in 2005 using the same so-called 'dog-whistle'* issues as in Australia. Didn't work, I'm glad to say, Howard made a big mistake. However, Crosby's apparently now working for Boris Johnson's mayoral campaign, which does make me think old Boris is mentally lightweight. 'Immigrants out' isn't going to work in London. I was at a party last week talking to two guys, all three of us pulling in good money, the others rather more than me, being City boys. We had one English-born grandparent between us, my grandad.
* so called because they're coded in such a way as that only a section of the public hears them and the rest don't realise what you're up to. Never seemed a particularly honest way of going about things, really, but we are talking a man with a record in BS going back years.

Re: Its the truth?
England might need a leader like that, but Wales doesn't.

Is that because no one wants to live in Wales?

Re: Its the truth?
Well 2.5 millions of us do and we'll do it happily without an idiot like him.
