Dvi Cable Help!!!

Hi guys i came accorss your website after searching for helpon the internet im not sure if you can help me or not.

I have a iiyama prolight e483s 19", after upgrading my graphics card i decided that it would be a good idear to change form vga to dvi cable, but unfortuntly when i plugged it in to my monitor nothing came up, if i plugged both of them in together only vga would work.

i know for a fact graphics card works because i tried it on both my up to date cards 7900gt xtream nvidia and my new card 8600gts xxx extream. I then thought it may of been my DVI cable but after taking it round my m8s house it worked straight away. Finally i thought it must be the monitor and after a while on the phone i got a new one with my garentee, after it arriviong today i tried it straight away but NOTHING!!!!

Please can anyone help me this is becoming extreamly annoying that i cannot enjoy my games as best as i can

thanks very much Vince

Re: Dvi Cable Help!!!

Hi Vince and welcome.

Right try this.
Connect your VGA lead only.
Go into your screen settings, right click on desktop\properties\setting and set your screen resolution to 1280x1024. Then select advanced and then the monitor tab. Set the refresh rate to 60hz.
Then power off your pc & monitor remove the VGA lead. Connect the DVI to the graphics card and the monitor.
If the lead is fine then it should just work.....

Also in the nvidia control panel under display\change resolution make sure in there it says 1280x1024 @ 60hz.

Nice link from Mr Help!

Last post, mentions VGA but might work for DVI
