Sexy new router from Belkin

Belkin are soon to launch a sexy looking new router called the N1 Vision.

This works (or not depending on your experience) the same as it's other N1 devices but incorporates a small screen on which you can see such info as download speed, who's connected and what are they up to ie how much up/down, nice clock etc. Once (demo) screen showed a diagnostic on the lines of "No broadband detected, try switching me off for 30 secs" or similar

Prices expected around £100 mark, DABs have it at ~£120 wait around 4 weeks, two other places at ~£1,400 (hope that's for bulk).

Very tempting. But some customer report issues with VPN. If true it's not for me. http://www.tech.co.uk/dangrabham/gen...lkin-n1-vision

ah yes, saw this router couple of weeks ago, very nice indeed but i think im gunna wait till the final certification of the n standard before i upgrade my next router.
And by the time ive finnished the 3 years of brainwashing from my degree have finnished( In my last year ), i probably wont be able to buy anything that doesn have a "powered by cisco" logo on it lol

Re: Sexy new router from Belkin

As our router is stuffed away on top of the wardrobe in the bedroom having one of these wouldnt be of any advantage to me and probrably many others. Although it does have some usefull diagnostic tools the only benefit I could envisage is seeing if someone is stealing your bandwidth via wireless and if your stupid enough not to be using some form of security then it would make for good viewing

Re: Sexy new router from Belkin

Wonderful, I'm still using a WRT54G 1.2 on whatever the most current Linksys firmware is. It just does what it says on the tin and routes away and I never need to touch it. Isn't that what Routers are supposed to be like?

Just a bit of a gimmick I feel...and once one company does, they'll all be at it...

Yes although a few other features like QOS are nice but that is still to do with the way it routes data...

If I really want stats from my router i can monitor it via SNMP it doesn't need a display...

That and I don't really like belkin routers.

Re: Sexy new router from Belkin

Even the latest firmware on a WRT54G of that age has QoS!

Re: Sexy new router from Belkin

have used the router myself and it is nice some lovely features on it if the firmware gets sorted out properly.

1 key thing for me would be that all the ports on the router are gigabit ports

might ask an ex colleague of mine for 1 if he has them around
