Question Questions?

Getting a new Sony 32" HDTV, just thought I'd post a few questions for people to answer.
  1. I'm using a Bush CRT at the moment. I'm using the remote code too. I'm just wondering whenever I disconnect the box from the TV, plug the box into my Sony, will I just change the remote codes or Do I have to refresh something?
  2. HDMI - The Virgin:Media guy let us the HDMI lead, if I connect that to the box and to the TV, Will the TV just go onto HD1 and show NTL. Or, Will I need to change it from scart to HDMI? How do I do that without the scart lead?
  3. Will I loose any off my recordings?
  4. 720p or 1080i?
Thank you.

Re: Questions?

As far as I am aware you will need to re-programme your remote control work with your Sony TV. You will need to go through the same procedure as you did to set the remote to your Bush TV.

To set up your Sony TV with your V+ you will need to first connect it by scart in exactly the same way you are currently set up with the Bush TV so that you can check that you get a picture. When you have a picture on on Sony power down the V+ and TV to also connect the HDMI lead.

With the scart cable and HDMI cables connected. Power up the TV and V+....Press 'Home' ---8 Settings --4 Change Display & Audio Settings.
• Change 'TV display format' to 'HiDef HDMI'
• After you choose the HDMI option you will need to choose the HiDef option and also choose either 720 or 1080*, then press OK and the screen will read ‘testing your TV’. Press OK again.
• Your screen will blank out at this point as the V+ has disabled the scart connection and is now using your HDMI cable.
• You now need to switch your TV over to the correct AV input for the HDMI.
• Your TV screen should now show an option to press text (on your V+ remote) to confirm.

720p or 1080i?
* Whether you use 720 or 1080 seems a matter of trying both and seeing which best suits your TV.

You shouldn't loose any of your existing recordings or settings.
