The fact that apparently the authorities couldn't prove the victim didn't die of an epilepsy related condition is the only thing which stopped them being charged with murder. The law gives these monsters the benefit of the doubt but do they deserve it?

Re: Three jailed for holding man in shed
I just don't understand this type of thing, it is just beyond me. What is happening to humankind?; we are hearing more and more of similar instances of cruelty. It seems we are getting desensitised by violence, possibly due to seeing too much of it, on TV or film. Why does the punishment never seem to fit the crime nowadays?

Re: Three jailed for holding man in shed
I find this appalling !
The amount of time they are going to prison for is ridiculous.
Even if they can't be charged for urder, they kept someone captive who could have been otherwise free and heathy and not in a place where he could die.
I hope there is a bigger investigation into this as these people who did this deserve a lot longer in prison.

Never going to happen.
There will be highly paid barrister's lining up now to use the weak laws in this country to get these animals out of jail ASAP.

Re: Three jailed for holding man in shed
It is not desensitisation as much as lack of a proper deterrant. Sorry for me you take a life and it is beyond all reasonable doubt and backed by evidence you should lose your life. At the very least life should mean life in prison we have got too soft on crime in this country and we are reaping the rewards of that. There are too many loopholes and blind spots in the law and a lot of lawyers to exploit them in court. If it were up to me being convicted of a crime would result in very very hard prison time in prisons that didn't have TV and playstations and where the daily regime was one of unremitting hard work in conditions that would make sure you never wanted to go back.

Re: Three jailed for holding man in shed
The biggest problem with the laws in this country are the masses of unscrupulous lawyers etc ready to exploit them for a price. Too many people get off with breaking the law just because they can afford an expensive lawyer. There are no punishments relevant to crimes anymore and thanks to the abuse of the Human Rights laws we have prisons and detention centers that some people don't mind spending time in.
Bring back national service, bring back chain gangs and stop pandering to the criminals.

Shocking story.
However they couldn't be charged with murder as they couldn't prove they killed him due to his epilepsy.
They should go to prison and stay there imho.

Re: Three jailed for holding man in shed
Whatever they want to call it, whether murder or not, it definately ended up with this guy dieing.
If he had not been fed rubbish to eat, kept locked in a shed, and been poisoned, there is a much greater chance he'd still be alive.
Can no one see that these people contributed to his death in many ways.
The system in this country and lawyers who will be fighting to get those people out of prison are a complete disgrace.
