virgin media and netgear kwgr614 setup probs

Ok, back to basics I'm afraid!

Got virgin media broadband installed last week and it works perfectly via the modem with a ethernet cable.

When setting up the router however, I follow the instructions and click the option that allows the router to setup for me. When it locates my internet connection it says I have a static internet connection which according to virgin media is not the case. Therefore I have to set up the router manually and that is as far as I have got. I have got the mac address from ipconfig/all and tried putting that on the router setup page but no joy. I have no idea what other settings are supposed to be set at.

Tried searching and followed some instructions there but again nothing. If i go back to the modem it works fine.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm not adept at this!

Amazingly i have just bought the same router and have exactly the same problem.

Will post back if i find a solution

Well I finally got mine sorted. Peformed a factory reset on the router. Plugged everything in and this time the router found my internet as a dynamic IP connection.

Almost cried. After that it set everything up and all is good.

Bizarre, as mine is working aswell, assume it was a problem at VMs end
