As the title says, this is a look at what we can expect in the spring update, the most noticable addition is you will be able to use MSN Messenger with it.

Re: Xbox 360 Spring 2007 Dashboard Update Video
Here's some more info regarding the Xbox 360 spring update.
1. The update hits the beginning of the week of May 7th
2. Your contact list will now integrate Windows Live Messenger, and show joinable session status
3. Messenger contacts can see what game you're playing, and your gamertag
4. Marketplace will now have its own blade, which will be skinned independent of your theme
5. Users will now get inline achievement updates (i.e. see what achievement you just unlocked and how much it's worth).
6. Low-power download mode and auto-shutdown
7. Progressive download: watch, fast-forward, and rewind partially downloaded movies
8. You can text chat messenger six friends playing games watching movies
9. Multiple tweaks on the user interface
Pictures of the update here.

I wasn't too fussed about the upcoming Spring Update, 'till I read this...

MS are slowly improving the 360's media abilities.
First they added the ability to stream WMV from your PC, without having to have XP Media Centre.
And now they're adding support for H.264 (aka MPEG-4 Part 10 aka AVC), & also MPEG-4 Part 2 Simple Profile.
Still no divx/xvid though! [MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile]

Re: Xbox 360 Spring Update
Over at the Xbox forums, everyone seems to think "week beginning May 7th" means sometime today.
Good video, looking forward to the update when it arrives. Personally I think Thurs/Fri time we will see it.

Re: Xbox 360 Spring 2007 Dashboard Update Video
Looks like they're locking down border controls on "foreign" accounts used outside their region of origin. So no more sneaky downloading Japanese demos or movies from the US video marketplace.

All the 'major' updates have been on a tuesday, as with all the downtime. I think it will be tomorrow, or should i say hope.

I just heard from the Dashboard team that we'll have to wait at least another day for the Dashboard update to be released. The update is not being released in the next 24-hours.

Re: Xbox 360 Spring 2007 Dashboard Update Video
I have to ask... who is Major Nelson ?...
At first I thought it was the name for a company who had connections within Microsoft, then I thought it was some kid who made up a load of balony and rumours.
Now Im thinking he is someone who isnt not directly linked to M$, but has good sources.
