Unhappy tvdrive hdtv connection

I am having trouble connecting an hp mp3130 5.2 firmware hp say is compatible with both 1080i and 720p to the HDTV outputs of the tvdrive.
I have tried both modes and see only the tvdrive menu graphics but no normal video or HD Video. Cable link is hdmi> DVI >DVI >HP M1
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be.

I am awaiting component cable to vga cable maybe this will work or does anyone know what the real issue is.

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

It does not work with the hdmi connection to dvi/M1 adapter
all I see is the telewest tvdrive menus which look fine but without video content normal or HD
do you think the component hd to vga connection has a chance?
I am waiting delivery of hp cable (component rca to vga) and will try

Is your projector HDCP compliant?

also I had a similar problem when the TV drive as newly installed but a forced re-boot sorted it

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

Looking at the documentation Its not HDCP compliant and its sounds like the problem as the menus are displayed and not the video content.
do you think the component hd connections which should have no HDCP will work to link the projector via VGA?

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

No, it needs to be HDMI to carry to HDCP signals over.

Component to VGA should work.

If ever there is broadecaster HDCP transmission (say in HD movies) you may have a problem watching HD. For now however component is good.

On TV drive the component is HD so should look pretty good

I would Try the TV Drive reboot first though.

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

There is a full system reset (not power off) which is described somewhere in the manual (i think) which involves pressing a combination of buttons together (Sorry I can not remember the combination)

If not in the manual, try TW support - they have been v helpful to me I have to say.

.

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

if the component to vga cable does not work then my next step is
possibly the dc-da1 pure link from dtrovision it looks like it will convert the dvi to vga loosing the hdcp i hope.
looking at other forums its been used a few times for older displays and works!
does anyone have any experience of using this device?

---------- Post added at 18:22 ---------- Previous post was at 17:19 ----------

bad news about DC-DA1 no longer hdcp compliant due to forced changes
other news
apparently all hardware has internal kill switch for hdcp.
any ideas?
I have asked telewest re hdcp, who suggest waiting for component to vga link if that does not work they would ask scientific atlanta.

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

Component to VGA

A couple of things to consider

Does your projector accept component signals (YUV) via VGA ir is it only able to accept RBG via VGA? Not all projectors allow YUV via VGA

If it is the latter you will need to use a YUV-RGB converter.

Also (i think you have answered the question but just to be sure) will your projector accept a HD signal via component.

Re: tvdrive hdtv connection

Fortune at last the component RCA to VGA outputs work with the projector on 1080i no luck with the 720p however.
Telewest still have some issues with the 4:3 / 16:9 broadcast formats but itâ₠¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s a start.

I will try to get hold of an hdcp compliant DVI to VGA converter as even from the menu graphics on the DVI Link you can tell the large quality diff between the component outputs and the HDMI.

I will report on how I get on once I have the elusive Box in my hands!

Thank you for all your help
