Talking Just added some more VM service...

Hey,

At the moment I'm on VM 4Mb and a BT line (totals about £38pm). Gave VM a quick call and I've moved myself onto the M Phone package, so my new total is £27pm with free weekend calls and free digi TV service... very chuffed

A couple of quick Q's though; I'm having my number ported over from BT. Is this normally a smooth process, or is there a high chance of being messed about by either BT/VM? Also the NTL phone line coming into the flat appears to have been cut (i.e. with a scissors or something), will this be a problem for the engineers? Lastly, do they do the cable box in Black, or do they only have silver ones?

Cheers!

Suman

Re: Just added some more VM service...

Number Port....Did they take your BT details of you, normaly takes about 7 days to set up ,engineer should come out and check there is a VM socket in the house and make sure it is the number to be ported. He then contacts activations to get the number ported ,which should take around 20 mins. The line then gets checked to make sure it is working ok.
The standard box is in black.
Good luck tell us how it goes.

Re: Just added some more VM service...

Hey,

Yeah they took my BT phone and account numbers. My VM phone installation isn't till the 3rd of April and my BT account normally gets billed on the 2nd. Does this mean I'll get an extra month billed by BT?

And I thought the standard VM box was a silver Samsung?

Cheers,

Suman

Re: Just added some more VM service...

True but there are also Pace and Scientific Atlanta boxs which are black,
Hope you get a Samsung ,they look better if the rest of your setup is Silver.
Not sure about the billing.

Re: Just added some more VM service...

You may want to look at the cost of using your sparkly new (probably caller ID deficient) VM phone line.

I'll give you a clue - don't keep it if you intend to make any phone calls (they're extortionate!!).

Re: Just added some more VM service...

We had a problem with porting out BT phone number, eventually we ended up with both Virgin phone and BT phone line having the same number.

When someone rang the BT line would ring, and on both lines making a phone call resulted in them both having the same phone number.

It was odd :p

It got fixed in the end!

Not sure if it is area dependant, but ex TW and caller ID has always worked.

As for call costs, as with ALL telcos these days, it depends what package you are on. VM do offer inclusive call packages, we used to have Talk Anywhere 800 due to teenage daughter

As phone is barely used these days, we've dropped back to talk unlimited/mobile/international.
