SACM self install questions

I've had broadband through my STB for years but I've just upgraded to the VIP pack. VM have sent through a SACM self install kit. It looks fairly straightforward and I'm fairly technically competent but I have a question or two...
  • I've got a 'digital interference filter' on the back of my STB which was installed a few months ago by an engineer. Should I leave this plugged into the STB or plug it into the 'cable in' side of the splitter box?
  • I know I'm going to need to register the SACM and de-register the STB BB. Will I need to call VM or is it done when I go to the autoreg site?
  • As it stands, the SNR of my STB varies between 28 and 33. Is self installing the splitter going to make this worse? Could it be tea and biccies bribery time for the engineer when he installs my V+ box next week?
Many thanks in advance!!

Re: SACM self install questions

I would not bother with the filter.
Only if you had problems, then use it, but try it without to start with.

It should be simple. Just plug the modem in, switch it on and wait for the lights to settle. Then turn on your PC and open up your Internet browser.
It should work straight away.
