Netgear wpn824 HELP

Hi,
Please could somebody offer some installation help.
We are trying to set this router up to our dsl cable modem.
The ethernet cable is plugged into the modem from desktop and we have followed all the instruction on the set up cd. As soon as it tries for the internet connection it fails and says it cannot connect.
I have spent half of the afternoon to the Indian call centre, and found that my 4meg line is activated and ok their end. I know it it on because i am typing this live now through my direct connection via the modem.
Its been a long long day . Originally, before thursday we were using our old wireless via tv drive box at 1 meg with no problems.
Thanks
Lorraine
(ps technical support could offer no more help to me)

Re: Netgear wpn824 HELP

Hi Lolly1963.
not to sure but is this what your talking about.
To use the wpn824 as an AP.
Just set its ip to match your network...(as u did)
Turn off dhcp (as you did)

attach from lan port of 318 to LAN port of wpn824 NOT WAN PORT.

Should work perfectly

Re: Netgear wpn824 HELP

Hi,
Have managed now to connect all 3 things up. Our cousin came and set it all up.
Our problem was because we still had the settings on the desktop for the netgear previous wireless equipment.
The xbox 360 runs like a dream. Our cousin is really impressed with this router and said it has excellent security features
Thanks for your help.
