Port 139 and 445 blocked?

Hello , i have been doing loads of online firewall tests like at http://www.pcflank.com/ and every time i do the TCP scan, it will give me ports 139 and 445 as closed.
now i have tried many different firewalls and even a different routers so see if it made any difference but no.
When i do a scan for any other port so lets say ports 100-120, my firewall logs will show me each time the test tried to scan a port so i get:
03:22:50 - BLOCKED Packet (Received) TCP (SYN) 192.168.2.11:100
03:22:50 - BLOCKED Packet (Received) TCP (SYN) 192.168.2.11:101
03:22:50 - BLOCKED Packet (Received) TCP (SYN) 192.168.2.11:102
..ect..ect
but scanning port 139 and 445 i never get any log, and this is with outpostPRO, Bullguard and router log.
So everytime doing the (TCP connect scanning) at pcflank.com it will show 139 and 445 as closed not stealth...if i do the TCP SYN scanning it shows them as stealth, but i still get no firewall log to say it blocked that port.
So do Telewest block this port for us?

Re: Port 139 and 445 blocked?

It is most likely. Ports 139 and 445 are for a service called "NetBIOS" on standard Windows' PC's, and a hell of a lot of hacks/exploits exist to compromise PC's that work through these ports.

They do block 139. It's logical to assume they've also added 445 to the list.

Yep, just to re-iterate they're blocked. Actually a lot of ISPs have done it now to stop the spread of virii.
