Re: FTP software
SmartFTP is ok and supports remote transfers (FXP) useful for the likes of moving webhosts as well as normal ftp use
UltraFXP has a good reputation to but I never got to try it before I bought a Flash licence. UltraFXP is now known as FTPrush and that isnt free but you can google for the old free UltraFXP version

Re: FTP software
no matter what, FILEZILLA
free no sign up, just a download, no pop ups, no ads, no timelimit, no 30 days free trial.
just a simple program which does what you want to do fully, and free.
did I say it was free?
ik
EDIT: what wicked and crazy said in post #8
it can even remember your password and username everytime you use it, just reconnect after you have got in.

Re: FTP software
I use fireftp, most of the time, because it is quick & simple (imo )
filezilla is the next choice, free, just a little more complicated/capable ...

Re: FTP software
I was using SmartFTP - I've just found FireFTP - how cool is that??!!
Used with Portable Firefox, I can now modify all aspects of my site from a USB key!

Re: FTP software
I have just got a U3 enabled USB key (£16 from Play) and have Filezilla installed on it (as well as Firefox, Putty and others). Works a treat on any XP system. (more info on U3 here.
