Using Telewest before Account has been activated

I have just moveed into a property that has telewest broadband and TV connector boxes installed. Am I able to use these to view the free channels now (before Telewest complete the order I placed for broadband and TV)? I cannot find a normal aeriel point in the house so was hoping to use this. If I can, what type of lead do I need?

hmm don't quite know about Telewest. Using a high grade coaz cable with a crimped f connector then a adaptor that screws on to make a rf connection that will fit your telly you can get 13 analogue channels free from ntl. I'm sure Telewest must pipe something similar down the wire.

Not recommended without some sort of low pass filter at the very minimum though.

Re: Using Telewest before Account has been activated

Sorry but I am very un-cable friendly so have no idea what a high grade coaz cable with a crimped f connector then a adaptor that screws on to make a rf connection, is!! Do I need to order this on line or is it something I could get from an a electrical shop??

Get some co-ax run it from the isolator to the stb then scart lead to your tv. On tw, you get channels 1-5 and sky one.

Actually if you've just got an isolator and no stb, just rf lead from the isolator to your tv and tune. Get channels 1-5.

Bad idea, do't get just any Co-Ax, get highest quality possible with crimped on f connectors. Otherwise you'll be releasing interference back onto the network which can and most likely will be traced back to you.

You don't want that.

Whos gona trace it? Me? I've got more important things to do.

Honestly no-one checks, theres never any point. Techs on Digital Pickups have even wired it up this way.

No point when it wrecks the network for others? You sure you know what you're doing there?

How long is it going to take for them to come and connect you?

I must be missing something, if the equipment is installed then
I would thought that a normal video patch lead or scart lead

It won't really do any damage, I've known techs to wire it up like then when a customer disconnects services. The only people who would trace this are networks (No Fault Found). So I wouldn't worry about it.
