Samsung STB RF problem?
Hi Does anyone know if the RF in/out on the new Samsung box does a frequency translation from the incoming signals to the RF out, picking up the selected NTL channel on the way.
I am getting a very weak signal at my second TV which is fed with the RF output from the STB - The TV is, at present, tuned to the local transmitter frequencies.
Regards to all - I am new at this.

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
Hi Simmo the rf out put is usally set to ch 65 0r 51 .Nothing else will come out of the rf out only what the box is showing.if you have your aerial pluggled in it will give you those channels as well

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
Thanks for that - we have a "complicated" setup! Aerial to VHS to DVD to STB to distribution amp to TV1 and TV2. All works fine until the NTL contractor changes the STB which they have now done twice in a week. The two sets lose the RF channels 1 2 3 & 4 and will only work if the VHS is switched on - then - if you change the cable channel the RF feed to TV2 is lost. All a bit strange. I just wondered if the new boxes from Samsung might have done something strange with the RF in/out. I will look at channel 65! Channel 51 is BBC1 here. Thanks again for the info.
Regards

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
Possibly the STB's output channel is set differently from your last box, and is clashing with the DVD or VCR. It should be either 50 or 52 in Brighton. See http://www.cableforum.co.uk/forum/article.php?a=24 for instructions on checking/changing it. Don't forget to retune your TVs afterwards.
You might need to retune the DVD and/or VCR too. To find out whether they are the problem, remove them from the chain and get it all working just with the ntl box. Then add them one at a time, and see whether anything's broken.

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
If the 2110 has the same setup as the 2100 then follow the instructions here to enter the engineering menu.
On the first page change the Remodulator Channel to what you want...
I wouldn't change anything else though!!

Try again. You need to press the buttons in the order stated (TV, then OK, then Right). It's safer than using the eng screens.
Why does everyone call me spiderman?

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
Hi I have set the remodulator channel to 55 and it does not conflict with anything - the second TV is now getting all services fine as it was before NTL changed the box twice. I really do not understand why 2 NTL contractors could not have found this in the first place even with prompting by me. Neither would they tell me how to change the RF o/p and, of course, no service from CS at NTL at the weekend. Its nice of them to have callers put in their telphone number before telling them the office is shut !!! 150 and 151 don't work all of the 'phone numbers in the correspondence are changed as is the number on the help screen. All now seem to revolve around 0845 454 0000 which is a chargeable number.
Any once again, thanks for the quick replies and assistance.
Regards
Simmo

Re: Samsung STB RF problem?
Just press TV + OK + Right together once again. The sequence is important - Press and hold TV, then press and hold OK (whilst still holding TV), then press Right (whilst still holding the other two). Then let go of all three.
Oh, and welcome!
