Can only view certain websites

Been with NTL a couple of months now, with no problems whatsoever, in fact I haven't even rebooted my PC since being with them. However this morning I can only access about 10 percent of websites, I can't even get to google to get my emails.

I've done a 'ipconfig /release' - 'ipconfig /renew', even a 'ipconfig /flushdns', but it's still the same. Anyone know what's causing this, or seeing it too. Proxies/DNS? Ta.

Have you tried changing to another proxy? Try a reboot of the PC and modem/ STB and if that fails try another proxy.

Re: Can only view certain websites

You won't be able to change your IP with ntl so doing ipconfig /renew makes no difference.

Turn your cable modem of for 2 minutes and reboot computer, switch cable modem on leave for 2 minutes - just try the basics ...

Try changing proxy which can be found at the bottom of this page http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...trancache.html highlited in green not blue.

if not check the ntl status page on ntlworld.com to see if there is a national or local fault, could not be reported so leave for a few hours, if still not fixed give them a call.

Thanks guys. Luckily I'm at work so I've made copies of that information as I couldn't even get onto NTL's site from home.

Re: Can only view certain websites

Tried the reboot/reset option. But it was still the same. However I could get browsing working by changing the proxy in Firefox, which doesn't help much with Thunderbird/gmail and many other apps which weren't connecting to the interenet. I gave NTL a ring and it appears there is a fault in the LN* *** postcode area (Lincoln). Should be fixed this pm apparently.

2 things have come from this though. I was extremely impressed at how quickly I got to talk to someone at CS. It must have taken less than one minute to go through the menus and get a real person, very good. Secondly I had to reboot my PC after 42 days, ho hum.
