emails bounced

I am having loads of problems with my emails being bounced by NTL saying that my mailbox is too full (above the derisory 10MB allowance!) I have checked my mailbox on line (webmail) and know that I have hardly anything in either my inbox or outbox. I rang NTL and it took an age to get through but the guy said that there was nothing wrong. Is anyone else having the same problems ?

Re: emails bounced

Hi Mate

if you delete e-mails via webmail you need to empty the trash as this counts as storage even tho you dont see them

I got caught out with this and its a swine to remove them all

try it and let me know

Re: emails bounced

That's very helpful and may have been the source of the problem. Don't know why NTL helpline couldn't have told me!
Thanks for your help, this site is a much better way of getting real information. Cheers

Re: emails bounced

It could also be a file that you have deleted already has corrupted, try emptying the trash and if you still are over the limit for your inbox you may need to telnet in to sort it out. Or get a gmail account lol

Re: emails bounced

Yep, that seems to have cleared it. I sent an email with attachments from another email address and it got through. Thanks again for the help

Thanks, I think deleting the webmail Trash has sorted the problem. Is it only me that thinks the 10MB mailbox limit is far far too low? Interested to know why you mean about Telnet ing in What is that? Is it similar to using FTP? Also what is a gmail account? Thanks
Tim

Re: emails bounced

Be careful not to let it happen again. A friend had to get a new NTL e-mail address because her original got so bunged up whilst she was on holiday they couldn't sort it out.
