Typical nonsense from a 'technologist' as you'd expect, full of the usual crap you get from people with nothing better to do than be a far out version of tomorrow's world without the basis in fact.
Not relevant to ntl cable modem service either, more relevant to general internet as the guy hasn't a clue what he's talking about with regard to the 'disruptive' technology that is ADSL either.
Love the way he slags off both DSL and cable then decides that DSL is the 'disruptive' (love that buzzword central) technology of the future, though it's been about deployed since mid-90s.
Nice picture too of someone plugging a serial cable into a serial->parallel converter. Should be able to get a massive 115.2kbps from that baby.
Like how he twitters on about mains electricity preventing broadband takeup. Had he bothered to get his head out of his rectum for a while he'd have found out that where there's no mains it's quite unlikely there's a house there, due to the USOs (Universal Service Obligations) from both telcos and powercos, and even if there are homes there they're unlikely to want internet on account of.... groundbreaking this..... nothing electronic to hook the DSL / cable modem to. Sounds good though talking this BS and keeps him in a job I guess.

With fuel cells and wireless networks we can get on with the biggest job facing the technology industry over the next decade, getting the next five billion users online.

We may want to consider actually making sure that the billions of these poor people who aren't online who are starving, diseased and dying actually have food, shelter and medical supplies first. Moron.
Think I might as well give him my high opinion of this rubbish, just as a voice from the real world not his little digital fantasy land,
bill@andfinally.com is apparently the way to go, sweet
