Re: sound from hard drive

What does the noise sound like? Is it a high pitch noise or a clicking sound?

As in who manufactured the drive, what company.

If you don't know how to look, you can usually find the make from the following steps:

Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System --> Hardware tab (I think it's hardware, I can't check on these PCs) --> Then device manager.

Under the device manager, look under "Disk drives". Your HDD should be under there, and more than likely the manufacturer name. If not, post back and I'll have to look later on (Leaving college now).

Re: sound from hard drive

Is it a branded PC an if so who is the manufacturer and do you know the model number?
If you can find the info then this
http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...dlid=1&lang=en
may help you locate the names etc of everything.

It may be something minor, but if you've got any important/ non-replaceable data on there, back it up just in case it's a critical problem
