So you reckon this offer will last as long as it takes for the merger to go through...

Thing is if Ntl did offer a similar thing it would solve a lot of problems with shoddy installs where customers were not allowed to cancel and it caused no end of hastle to get things fixed (or they just stopped paying and were disconnected to get out of the contract)
