Java
Can someone help me out, I'm having a real problem getting any Java apps to load on my comp.
When I reinstalled XP I needed to reinstall the Java stuff, and I downloaded what I thought was the right thing, but when I loaded any page with a Java app on it just gave a teacup in the corner of the page.
I tried to remedy this by going to Sun's website and downloading the Java stuff again, but now when I try a Java page it gives me a big red x!
I'm so confused, anyone got any ideas?

Dont know because I just installed this myself and works fine. I'd say you have something else installed thats causing the problem. If you still have another version of java installed remove and make sure you have no spyware installed

Your java panel is located in control panel, check the settings there, also check under IE>tools>internet options>advanced> java, make sure that your java enabled.
Just a thought, hope it works if not let us know

True but he said that he sees the coffe cup in the systray so I assume he has it installed ??
As you say could be a conflict, best to ( IMHO ) uninstall and try again
EDIT:- sorry, I just read the post again, I missread the first time, will think on it but stil ll think a clean install is the best option, I'll see if I can dig up some links

oh I so saw that pal! :p
If anyone else needs this sorting then pay this site a visit:
java-virtual-machine.net
At the top of that page you'll see 4 links, Dell downloaded the first one and so did I.
