Not enough information at this point to draw any real conclusions.

I think the location ("on the Red Lake Indian Reservation") already makes this different to previous events. I'm sure in time we'll know more.

Yeah, such as the fact most Reservations are the Third World right in the middle of America. With massive rates of alcoholism, drugs abuse, add in poor housing, high levels of unemployment, lack of local services and its a surprise it hasnt happened before.

Well, there this from Canada March 18th 2005

And this from Bixton Academy during a concert. March 21st 2005

The whole world is going to hell in a handbasket.. Laws and the lack thereof, seem to have no effect.

As I said - significant differences in this case mean that comparison with other similar seeming events is difficult.

I guess the example from Canada you mention does compare that event to the Columbine shootings, but in these cases the main common factor seems to be that they took place in schools.

The UK example doesn't compare at all.

I'm not sure these events are such harbingers of doom as you suggest - they're rather isolated and few and far between.

There's lots more happens on a daily basis in every town and city of this country that are actually more indicative of the general decline you mention.

Just counting the days before we get the kneejerks.
"2nd grade school boy suspended for holding a banana in a threatening manner in the cafeteria and saying 'Bang' ".
"Macbeth script found in satchel - Anti Terrorist Squad called in".
