Re: How do i get my webspace
sorry for the length of this but hope it helps.
The userid is your main userID, (the first part of the principal email address) for your ntlworld broadband account.
Main examples of uploading is to use File Transfer Protocol, or FTP, which is a protocol used to upload files from a workstation to a FTP server, or download files from a FTP server to a workstation. It is the way that files get transferred from one device to another in order for the files to be available on the Internet.
Uploading web pages can be done via an internet browser or a FTP program such as Terrapin.
To upload files to your ntlWorld webspace using Internet Explorer follow the steps below:
1. In the Address bar, type: 'ftp://upload.ntlworld.com' and click 'Go'.
2. Enter your ntlWorld username and password when prompted and click 'OK'.
3. You will see the directory of your webspace. If this is the first time you have accessed your webspace, you will see only one file there, called 'index.html'.
4. Minimise the Internet Explorer window and double click on 'My Computer'. Browse to the folder where your webpages are stored.
5. Highlight the files you wish to upload to your webspace. Click on 'Edit' > 'Copy'. Bring up the Internet Explorer window again, and click 'Edit' > 'Paste'. The files you selected will now be uploaded.
Please note: the first page of your website should be given the filename 'index.html' (or index.htm).
Your homepage URL is http://homepage.ntlworld.com/user.name
or
Once you have created your web pages, you can use a dedicated FTP program to upload your files to your web space. There are many available, and a good, easy one to use is WS_FTP, which is available from the Tucows site, at:
http://www.tucows.com
(Note: there are two versions of WS_FTP: WS_FTP Pro is shareware, and you have to pay for it after a trial period. WS_FTP LE is free of charge to non-commercial users, and this is the version we would suggest you use.)
The process for uploading to your web site would then be as follows:
open WS_FTP and click CONNECT ( unless the SESSION PROPERTIES screen comes up automatically). Input the following information:
Profile name: ntlWorld Webspace
Host name/address: upload.ntlworld.com
Host type: automatic detect
Userid: (enter your user name)
Password: (enter your password)
Account: (leave blank)
Comment: (leave blank)
Anonymous: (leave blank)
Save Pwd: (leave blank)
Click 'OK'. You will see a dialogue in the bottom left of the screen with the last message being 'transfer complete' - this shows that you have accessed your site successfully. (Note: the first time you access your webspace, this may take a few minutes. Subsequent attempts should give you access more quickly.)
Your hard drive contents are displayed in the left windows, and the content of your web site on the right.
When you have updated your webspace and would like to know how you can access it, launch your web browser, normally Internet Explorer. Click in the address bar, clear whatever is in the address bar and type in:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/userid/index.html
- userid being your main userID, (the first part of the principal email address).
Again sorry for the length on this reply

your username will be the same as your primary email address: firstname.lastname (jamie.Becks would be my guess, if your surname is becks, and not your partners name!!!)
Your password starts with a character followed by 9 digits ie p123456789.
You should find it in on a letter in the welcome pack.

Re: How do i get my webspace
If you call ntl for your username and password you will need to ensure you are the account holder and be ready for some security questions to prove your identity.

just tried mine - unable to connect, I presume it is due to the outage that was reported earlier & is still affecting e-mail, also.
