Premium Phone Calls - Not Dial-Up

Hi

I have a small problem for discussion....

Today I recieved my phone bill from NTL it was massive and consisted of three mobile calls all of which I made and a page of premium numbers which I did not make.

I have cable with NTL but no modem installed on my machine linking it to the telephone. I investigated through icstis who told me it was not a porn dialler but a chat line....

I have not used the chat line nor has anyone else in the house, all calls were made either in the early hours of the morning or during the day at the weekend. None of the calls last longer than 7 minutes, can anyone give me a logical explanation as to how this has happened?

Could be someone tampering with the cabs.

Sorry, excuse my manners.

Well worth getting call barring on your line to prevent this.

Re: Premium Phone Calls - Not Dial-Up

Is there anything else attached to the phone line? Sky Digital box, Amstrad emailer? etc.

Aside from that does anyone else have access to the house at all? It's highly unlikely to be a fault in my experience.

have you got kids? a babysitter? or a randy dog that can use the phone

Even if both a Sky box and Amstrad emailer were connected they would not / could not dial such a number except by using the emailer phone as a normal phone and dialling it yourself. Sounds like someone phoning from a cab or a misinstalled NTL line.

I've found Icstis tend to lump things together in very broad categories and have things such as interactive chat etc. listed as chat lines.

Re: Premium Phone Calls - Not Dial-Up

In answer to your questions, I dont have any children so therefore no babysitter and I have cats (they have all been neutered so not randy) and no randy dogs.

I do not have anything linked to the telephone socket apart from a phone.

When I contacted ICSTIS they said the number was not on their database but they had tried to call it and it was a chatline.

09099673268 is the number if you want to call it

(thank you for your suggestions so far)

Re: Premium Phone Calls - Not Dial-Up

Yep definately a chatline of some description.

It's the first 0909 number I've seen thats not computer related.

Have you had any other problems recently with the phone recently?
